Additional Information:
Stockton-on-Tees Aquarist Society formed a separate Junior Section eighteen months ago. We believe we are probably the only society in the Tyne Tees Area to run a separate section for juniors.
The section meets fortnightly in Kiora Hall Community Centre membership is open to any juniors from 8 - 18 years old. It is supervised by volunteers from the adult society but in all other aspects it is organised as a separate section with its own funds.
The average attendance at meetings is 30. Table shows and auctions are held at each meeting. Some of the table shows put the adults to shame. Twenty entries per class are commonplace.
We try to arrange a regular programme of speakers, quizzes, slide shows etc.
Some of the speakers who have attended include Mr. K. Low. Mr. D. Keigthley. Mr. L. Collins. Mr. R. McCartney. I think all will agree that they were given a very appreciative hearing and that the standard of questions asked was very high. (taken from, issue 3, The Fishkeeper, 1976)
Stockton put on this simple stand for many years; this photo shows the stand at Crowtree Leisure Centre, Sunderland
