Additional Information:
South Shields Aquarist Society was a big North-east club, twinned with Basingstoke, who were the experts when it came to prize winning tableaux and 1,000 entry fish shows. They brought a whole new dimension to the local societies, and may have been the first club in Tyne & Wear to show interest in the slide show lectures that could be hired from the FBAS, training programme for judges. Their tableaux were often humorous, notably the ‘Secret of the Broon’. (does any one have photos of Lambton Lion Park TTAA Festival in 1977) Their open shows were on same day as the Great North Run so you had to get there early! Early show venue was the Territorial Army Building of Ocean Road, but the IRA put an end to that. RK
(The Great North Run (GNR) played havoc with South Shields Open Show arrangements. On the first occasion the two events clashed, a police convoy was arranged from outside of the GNR effected area. Most exhibitors arrived early to avoid this inconvenience. But, when the club arrived at Bollingbroke Hall on the Sunday morning (they set-up the benches on the Saturday) they found all of their benching had been removed by the council for a major GNR reception, school and community association were raided for tables which were in place just in time for judging. PB)
This car theme was South Shields AS's display for the last TTAA Festival held at Lambton Lion Park, and -

-two years later they had moved on to an astronomical theme.
