I will always remember the A.O.S. non fish class Terry Marshall, a member, usually won with his four foot Caiman, theses were common and a license was not needed back then. Terry’s other show stopper were his 12cm
red eye red swords, his feeding secret ‘Caiman crap’ only the strongest swords could out swim the Caiman! The show was judged by experienced hobbyists and shop keepers (the three Young brothers of ‘Betta
Aquaria, Byker’) the judge on the card shown is George Fenwick a
Newcastle Guppy & Livebearer Society & FBAS member. This was another society that split up, 1976 saw half of the members going up the bank to
Westgate Road, and, together with a few members from
South Shields AS, formed
Novocastrian Tropical Fish Club ‘Novos’. Newcastle Tropical Fish Society folded a few years later. Robbie Kirkup
