Additional Information:
Middlesborough show venue, Finnigeons Hall, was one of the best, it had good, natural light and was big and airy. I have memories of going to one of their shows in a minibus hired by my club,
Hebburn AS. When it
arrived we were less than impressed; the starter key was a spoon, and the back door was held shut with a fanbelt. As usual, we had to wait for our secretary, who was still painting the bases of his tanks when we went
to pick him up. (Thankfully, it was not the same as the trip before when we had to knock him out of bed, and he came down to answer the door in his shorty dressing gown - sans underwear.) Once the tanks were
painted, he said 'It'll only take a few minutes catch my fish'. Arriving at
Finnigeons Hall just in time to bench, we all had a good laugh when the secretary removed his prize fish, a large Anostomus, from its travelling bucket and found it had bitten off its own tail. He threw one of his
famous strops, stamped his feet, and announced for the umteenth time, at the umteenth show, that this was the worst show he had ever been to.
