'I believe this club got its name from the pub where the society was formed. The award cards are entitled Half Moon Billingham Aquarist Society and some of its members were also in Billingham A.S. I believe the Society was formed in the 1960s and lasted until the middle 80s.This society won the Three Rivers Festival tableaux at Eldon Square & Lambton with a Hovercraft, and an Oil Rig. As an organizer at this event I had the privilege of seeing the hovercraft motors run briefly, before they blew the electric supply, it worked better with smaller motors when it was shown at the Yorkshire Aquarist Festival'.
