TTAA Open Show 7/6/09

The Tyne Tees Area Association of the FBAS’ annual show took place at Redby Community Centre in Fulwell Sunderland. After the big entry at last week’s STAMPS show there was only a disappointing 108 exhibits. On a brighter note, the TTAA had a magnificent display of donated fish food to present to the class winners. The auction had 7 lots, with some interesting fish up for grabs, along with the normal range of tanks & accessories. Most of the first places went to STAMPS members with Robbie Kirkup doing well for Rainbow. Ronnie Flinn, independent, made a strong showing also, exhibiting the best cichlid of the day, a Guainacara owroewefi. The Best Fish in Show was a Red-tailed Black Shark shown by John Douthwaite of STAMPS. Ronnie Flinn was runner-up with the above fish and Bede Kerrigan of STAMPS was 3rd with a Pencilfish. The best pair of fish, Corydoras weitzmani, belonged to Robbie Kirkup, and Bede Kerrigan was awarded the best breeders team with four young Corydoras Sterbai. The FBAS Championship classes were won by A &A (STAMPS) with a female platy and Nick Swales of STAMPS with a single-tail Goldfish. We were privilege to have the FBAS President, Dick Mill, and his wife, to present the prizes at the end of the proceedings.
