STAMPS 2009 Open Show Report
STAMPS 3rd open show continued the trend of getting bigger and better each year. There were 238 entries (the biggest in the TTAA
region this century) and standing room only in the auction. Exhibits came from Derby in the south, Workington in the West and Scottish clubs were well represented in the auction. The large entry was partly due to a third
FBAS Championship class (H) being given to STAMPS in May. In fact, most of the entries came from outside of the TTAA area. Brian & Steve Chrich made a welcome return to the region and were rewarded by winning best
catfish with their magnificent Hypostomus margaritifer. There were some exceptional fish on show, the Best in Show going to a Guainacara owroewefi, belonging to a local exhibitor, Ronnie Flinn. He beat off a
strong challenge from some excellent fish from around the country. The three FBAS Championship classes were won by Janice Clarke (B) with an Odessa Barb, TDC (H) with a Corydoras nanus and John Douthwaite (Ma) with a
Red-tail Black Shark. The best pair of egglayers went to TDC with a nice group of Yunnanilus cruciatus Loaches, and the best livebearers to TDC with Brachraphis hartwegi. The breeders teams were won by TDC exhibiting
Synodontis petricola (Xbm), and Xenophalus umbratilus (Xot). A lack of judges meant this show was left to be judged by 4 judges only, which meant judging went on to well past 4 o'clock. Norman Banks, Wendy Charters, Ken
Drummond, Bob Henson, Rose
Jackson, Alec Morrison & Ken Scott, ran the Auction so well it finished before judging. Despite the long day and the heat, many people stayed to see the prize-giving. The highlight of the day was Mrs. Jean Drummond presenting the
Keith Drummond Memorial Trophy to STAMPS. Thanks to:
