1971
Tyne Tees Area Association (TTAA) of the FBAS was formed.
1973
TTAA 's First Open Show (13/3/73), Held at Longscar Hall, Seaton Carew, Hartlepool. Only the first three fish were pointed at this show, and the North East Best of Best, as the Champion of Champions as called then, was held in conjunction with the show.
1976
TTAA's first Three-rivers Fishkeeping Festival held at Lambton Castle, Chester-le-street (28th-30th August)
TTAA Festival Best Fish In show Labeotropheus fuellborni, Ron Atherton, Hartlepool AS.
TTAA Festival Best Aquarium Stanley.
TTAA Festival Best Society Hartlepool AS.
TTAA Festival Best Tableaux Half Moon, Oil Rig.
TTAA Intersociety Show (28/11/76) held at Billingham Community Centre won by Stockton AS.
TTAA AGM Voted in Chairman, Doug Renton; Secretary Ken Low; Treasurer Mr. McClurg (6/11/76). Caer-Urfa AS formed.
Caer-Urfa AS twinned with Gesselschaft fur Aquarien und Terrarienkunde, Wuppertal (GATW).
1977
TTAA Three-rivers Fishkeeping Festival held at Lambton Castle, Chester-le-street (27th-29th August).
Three Rivers Championship class won by George Liddle.
TTAA Festival Best Fish In show Poecilis reticulatus (guppy), Ron Hill.

Caer-Urfa AS and have their first open show with over 800 entries.

The Last TTAA Three-rivers Fishkeeping Festival held at Crowtree, Sunderland.
Foresters AS closes.
Gateshead AS formed by ex-members of Forrester AS.
1985
First TTAA Open Show held at Peterlee Leisure Centre.
Three Rivers Championship class won by Paul Barrow (Caer-Urfa AS) with a Rasbora cephalotaenia (Porthole Rasbora)
Hebburn AS disbands.
1986
TTAA Open Show held at Peterlee Leisure Centre.
Three Rivers Championship class won by Mr. John Chapman.
Tenth anniversary of CUAS & GATW twinning

The FBAS celebrates its half-century

The North British Inter-Area Championship takes place on 20th October between the Union of Scottish Aquarists (USA) and the TTAA.
Best Area, TTAA who were awarded the Nethersall Trophy by the FBAS Chairman, Joe Nethersall.
Best TTAA exhibitor, Jane & Geoff Bell of Stockton-on-Tees AS.
