Three Rivers Championship History
The Three-Rivers Championship
, (latterly Champions of Champions)
competition has been going since 1976. In the past it was held in conjuction with the TTAA, Three Rivers Festival, A two-day event held at the at Lambton Castle, Eldon Square (Newcastle) or Crowtree Leisure Centre (Sunderland). Since 1985, this event became the TTAA Open Show and the Three Rivers became the TTAA Champion
of Champions. Occasionally, the Champion of Champions has also been held at the last TTAA member club’s open show of the season.
It was open originally to the 4 exhibitors who entries gained the highest points in the 30 basic classes at any TTAA open
show.
(see original proposal & rules) Now it's open to those gaining FBAS & TTAA Specials.
Invitation are sent out to those exhibitors with qualifying fish. This class is judged by two judges, if possible one being from outside of the area, to normal FBAS rules,
but
prizes are awarded to sixth place.
The outright winner gets:
A scroll, certificate or card such as this one. Similar cards are given to 6th place. The A4 scroll to the left was
had produced at Durham Prison as part of an art course
The Three Rivers Perpetual Trophy
which is this hand-carved coffee table. Doug Renton of the Newcastle Guppy
& Livebearer Society carved this table and another one which given as major award at the American Livebearer Show.
This badge (donated by South Tyneside Aquatics) was also given to winners. However, the badge had a limited run of 30 and the
last one was given to Bede Kerrigan in 2006.
