This 1-day show was held at Redby Community Centre, Sunderland. Highlight of the show was Robbie Kirkup's Ctenopoma acutirostre (Bushfish) winning the
Champion of Champions award, and Bede Kerrigan's Sewellia lineata (loach) getting Best Fish in Show.
There was a disappointing number of exhibits at this year's show. Competing with the Sunderland Air Show did not help with some exhibitors
experiencing up to 2 hours delay in traffic. Quite a few good fish were on show including fish which are not fully classified. The winning Corydoras was particularly well shown, its tank was pristine which
enhanced the fish's well developed markings.
Senior Judge for the day was Alan Race.
Tom Gray & Colin Tweddle discus tactics.
There was a small entry for the Champion of Champions due to there being only 3 qualifying shows, and people not
attending the show because of the major traffic problems caused by the air show.
Champions of Champions
This went to this fine Ctenopma acutirostre of Rob & Karen Kirkup.
Best in Show
Bede Kerrigan gained another major award with his Sewellia lineolata in class L. This fish got a Meritorious Diploma at an FNAS show this year. This was only the 5th of these awards given out over the last 15 years.
FBAS Championship Class T
This was a close fought class with the top three fish of a very high standard. Unusually, most of the fish shown were females as was Bede Kerrigan's, winning, Skiffia francesae.
FBAS Championship Class X u-w
Rob and Karen Kirkup rounded off the Kirkup/Kerrigan domination of the top awards with this exhibit of four Ladigesocypris ghigii bred in March.
