Twinning with Ryedale Aquarist Society
During our first year as a society, we have been welcomed at many shows, run by a variety of
regional associations. Bede Kerrigan, Ken Scott, John Douthwaite and the Charters family have travelled around the shows in northern England and into Scotland to successfully promote the club. One show which sticks out
in my mind was the YAAS show held at Stockton-in-the-Forest, where Peter Wright an myself were invited to judge. Despite widespread destruction in the area caused by flooding, the members of YAAS made us feel at home and
put on a well run show.
When our website was introduced, it was members of YAAS clubs who provided copy and images for the ‘Articles’ section. We were allowed, by Ryedale AS, to reproduce articles from their monthly magazine, Rydal Reporter,
and use images and research from other members. In total, Majid Ali, Arthur Frisby, Arthur Kenworthy, David Marshall, Sue Marshall, & K.A. Webb have all contributed to the website. To cement these ties, it was
suggested that STAMPS & Ryedale AS twin, a suggestion which was unanimously accepted by both clubs. Ryedale has invited all of STAMPS down to Yorkshire for a fun day when the worse of the winter weather has abated, and
STAMPS are planning a reciprocal invitation next year. Hopefully, this twinning will lead to closer ties between the TTAA & YAAS.
To celebrate the twinning, Rydale & STAMPS are each holding a twinning fun day with lots of different activities and a buffet.
