This year the Kirkbymoorside Memorial Hall played host to our annual aquarium fish Open Show. It was lovely to see a large contingent of our 'good friends' from STAMPS make the journey to be with us.
Miss Amy Charters, Mr. John Douthwaite, Mr. Bede Kerrigan and Mr. Nick Swales brought along their best fish for the Open Show. All of the STAMPS showing people would take home cards from a successful day. Altogether a total of 180 entries were spread over the 45 Classes with 20 families bringing along a stunning array of high quality fish
Y.A.A.S. 'A' Class Judges, to whom we send our thanks, Mrs. P. Jones, Mr. K. Webb, Mr. T. Douglas and Mr. S. Grant were kept very busy and awarded a large number of green cards, for 85 points and over, which went home with many happy exhibitors. Our thanks also to Mr. Malcolm Short, Mrs. Shirley Nelson and Sharon who combined to do a great job as Show Stewards.
The main results were as follows: -
Best in Show - Mr. B. O'Neill (Workington Aquarist Society) with a Humpbacked limia.

Best Goldfish - Mr. N. Swales (STAMPS)
Best Exhibit - Mr. M. Walters (Castleford A.S) with a group of Corydoradinae.
Junior Award - Miss A. Charters (STAMPS).

Along with the Open Show we also hosted a leg of the British Livebearer Association Guppy League. Entry into this event was restricted to members of the Association with their own Judging crew working to European standards.
The Class winners were as follows:-
Broad tail guppy - Mr. S. Elliott.
Sword tail guppy - Mr. D. Jordan
Short tail guppy - Mr. M. Clarke.

22 families submitted auction 'lots'. Our thanks go to Mr. Frank Tolombo who did a wonderful job preparing the auction, to Mr. Steve Jones and his auctioneering team of Mrs. Pauline Barker, Mr. Les Barker, Mr. Bede Kerrigan, Mr. Roy Blackburn and members of OASIS.
Now no Open Show would be complete without a small army of helpers so our thanks go to the following: -
Administration - Mr. Cliff Hildred and Mrs. Sue Kenworthy.
Kitchen helpers - Miss Sue Marshall, Miss Joan Marshall, Pat and Martin from Scarborough, Mr. Henry Hallsworth, and Mrs. Ann Grayson.
Raffle - Wendy and Amy Charters.
All sorts of jobs - Mr. David Marshall.
The Ryedale members send their thanks to all the exhibitors who brought along their best fish, to the people who brought their auction 'lots', aquatic industry and tourist attractions for their generous support and to all our friends, old and new, who made the journey to be with us.
