The S & C of S&C Aquatics comes from the first names of Steve & Christine Nelson who are well known in the show circles as the Nelson Family, and have been exhibiting for the last decade or so. They have opened this new aquatic shop in Stanley, in what used to be a high street restaurant. They hope to have the tanks filled to capacity by the end of February 2011. Despite having to undergo a maturing process, most tanks now hold a good variety of top quality fish at reasonable prices. The five rows of tanks, all 3ft, are well spaced to provide easy access, a situation mirrored in the dry goods dept. All of the shop in on one level, making it suitable for wheelchair users. There is parking in front of the shop but a large car park is situated behind the shop, making one of the better served aquatic outlets.

(Left) A nice displays was a tank full of good sizes Angelfish; these were very reasonably priced and Steve said they had been going like hot cakes because of their quality and price.
Other notable fish for sale:
Corydoras Panda
Corydoras aeneus
(lazer)
Aphyosemion scheeli
Boraras brigittae
Boraras maculata
Scleromystax barbatus
Giradinus metallics (black chin)
Dwarf Cichlids
Dalmatian Mollies
Silver Mollies
(Left) This breeding pair of fine Discus was situated next to the counter, the fish had excellent markings & colouration, and were obviously top quality.

TESTIMONIALS
When I went to S&C the first impression was a nice clean, well laid out shop; there wasn't much in the way of fish, just small bread & butter stuff, but as Steve said the tanks were still maturing. Prices seemed reasonable. While I was there a young lad came in to buy a filter and Steve went to a lot of trouble telling him how to get the best out of it. And by the way he makes a nice cup of coffee.
John Douthwaite (Vice-chairman of the TTAA)

When visiting S&C Aquatics, walking in you are immediately drawn to the impressive set-up Steve has. Every part of the shop is immaculate, the tanks are all sparkling, lots of walking space between the isles, dry goods well displayed and that is before you see the fish. Although this is a new venture the fish stock is very different to most shops in as much as there is a very good variety of fish not usually seen in most, killifish, L numbers, different livebearers including wild forms, Angels & Discus to speak of a few. The thing that comes to note is the prices which are obviously well below other shops. Steve is an aquarist of long standing, a proven showman which means he can give very good advice & he understands people's needs.
