INVITATION to 'FUN DAY'

Dear Friends, 
On Sunday 13th May the Ryedale Aquarist Society will be hosting a special 'Fun Day' to be held at the Pickering Memorial Hall, Potter Hill, Pickering, North Yorkshire.
YO18 8AA. We have hired the main Ground Hall from 10.00a.m. to 4.00p.m. The idea for 'FD' is that we relax and have an enjoyable 'day of fun'. 

Events timetables:

10.00a.m.

Welcoming tea and coffee. Benching of mini-show exhibits. Placement of sales table items.

10.40a.m.

Rather than hold an auction we have decided to put on a sales table instead. Please bring along your spare fish and aquatic items to sell. Please name all fish and place a contact phone number onto any electrical items. 10% commission will be taken on all sales. Items on the table will go on sale from

11.00a.m 

Talk on 'A fishkeepers visit to Singapore Part 1' by our special guests Mr. Kevin and Mrs. Christine Webb.

12.15p.m. approx.

Shared 'pot luck lunch'. Ryedale A.S. will provide the tea and coffee and we ask that you, please, bring along a savoury and/or sweet item to add to the lunch pot.

1.30p.m. approx.

Talk on 'A fishkeepers visit to Singapore Part 2' by our special guests Mr. Kevin and Mrs. Christine Webb.

2.30 pm approx

5. Prize awards for both Sue Marshall's 'fun quiz' and the mini-show. Drawing of raffle Early tea.

Mini-Open Show
This will comprise of 10 classes as follows:

Class 01 - Guppy Class 
Class 02 - A.O.V. Livebearer
Class 03 - Corydoras Class 
Class 04 - A.O.V. Catfish
Class 05 - A.V. Characin Class 
Class 06 - A.V. Cichlid
Class 07 - Botia, Loach, Shark & Fox
Class 08 - A.V. Labyrinth fish (including Snakehead)
Class 09 - A.O.V. Tropical or coldwater fish
Class 10 Eggshibit - To enter this class you will need to boil an egg and then use all of your artistic flair and craftwork knowledge to build your egg into a fish. Judges discretion will decide the places.

The mini-show classes will be judged by YAAS.'A' Class Judge Mr. Edward Cheetham. Y.A.A.S rules and standards apply. Please name all 'living' exhibits. Entry fee of 20p per exhibit. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed winners of each class. The Society or Independent showing person with the greatest number of points (4 for 1st, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd) will receive a small trophy.
We will also hold a raffle and prize quiz.
The Ryedale A.S. members hope that you will be able to join us and ask that you, please, let us know by 30th April if you are able to attend.

HOW TO FIND THE VENUE

From the NORTH-EAST
Making your way to Helmsley follow the A170 Pickering road. At the Kirkbymoorside roundabout, come straight on, following the road to Middleton. At the end of Middleton village (garage on right-hand side) take first left signposted 'Pickering local traffic only'. Follow the road going straight on and pass the Junior School. Follow the bends round into Potter Hill. Start looking for a parking place. The venue is at the bottom of the hill.
From SCARBOROUGH
Follow A170 Scarborough to Pickering road. As you enter Pickering (small Co-op on left-hand side) follow the road to the roundabout. Go straight over the roundabout into Hungate. 
If you are coming from the YORK direction - Follow the A64 onto the Malton by-pass. Branch left at signs for Flamingoland and Steam Railway branching left at the roundabout onto the A169 Malton to Pickering road. Follow the A169 into Pickering (you will see the Police Station on your left-hand side) and at the roundabout (the Forest and Vale Hotel is on your left-hand side) turn left into Hungate. SEE BELOW.
From DRIFFIELD, HULL etc.
Follow the B1248 into Norton turning left into Norton high street. Go past the swimming baths and after the Motorcycle Showroom turn right over the railway crossing following the bend to the traffic lights. Turn right and follow this road into Old Malton carrying straight on to the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the A169 following the instructions as above.
In TOWN
 Hungate (Flintoft's is on your right-hand side) to the traffic lights. At the lights turn right along The Ropery (supermarket car park on right-hand side) and after the library turn left and over the bridge into Potter Hill. The Memorial Hall is on your left.
